ZTE Axon 20 5G – Ni Fei shares a render revealing the display

ZTE Axon 20

Two years ago, ZTE was suffering from a US Ban that basically forced the smartphone maker to close its door. After several months of negotiation, the company managed to resume its operation after some necessary changes. One could think that the company would never recover from the hit. However, here is ZTE, ready to give one of its most important steps in the smartphone market. On September 1, the company will reveal the ZTE Axon 20 5G. What is so exciting about this handset? Well, it will be the world’s first commercially-available smartphone with an in-display front-facing camera. Ni Fei, president of ZTE, decided to reveal a render today that shows the front of the handset.

ZTE Axon 20 5G

It’s outstanding to see this technology debuting in the smartphone market. Companies have been trying to develop viable solutions for in-display selfies since the last year. However, the quality of these cameras was pretty far from the ideal. Apparently, ZTE managed to find the perfect solution. The race for bezel-less displays continues as companies are not leaving the pop-up cameras in favor of punch-hole displays. However, we believe that the punch-hole solution will be there just while this in-display technology matures.

Gizchina News of the week

ZTE Axon 20 5G renders show a phone with pretty slim bezels. However, we have to say that the bottom chin is quite thick for a bezel-less phone. We can also spot three buttons on the right side of the frame. It’s simple to assume that these are the power button and the volume rocker. The left side is bare and unfortunately, we can’t see the top and bottom. We believe that there will be an USB-C port, but we can say that a 3.5mm headphone jack will be present before a confirmation.

ZTE Axon 20 5G specifications

According to TENNA’s listing, the ZTE Axon 20 5G will come with a FullHD+ display and a 6.92-inch diagonal. The in-display camera will be a powerful 32MP unit. The phone’s overall dimensions are 172.1 x 77.9 x 7.9mm.

Under the hood, the handset boasts an anonymous 2.4GHz Octa-Core chipset. It will be paired with 6GB, 8GB, and even 12GB of RAM. Storage-wise, we have distinct flavors with 64GB, 128GB, and even 256GB of Internal Storage. The phone obviously ships with Android 10 OS as it may come a few days before the official rollout of Android 11.

The camera department will be composed of a 64MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP Quad-Camera array. The phone draws power from a 4,120mAh battery with fast-charging support.
