OnePlus made its big entrance in the Indian smart TV market a year ago with the launch of the TV Q1 series. However, the company’s more important step to popularize itself in the country was made this year. In early July, the company announced a bunch of more affordable smart TV series called OnePlus TV U and Y. Now, two new smart TVs from the Y series are receiving OTA2 update with brings several improvements to the overall stability.
The OnePlus TV Y sits as the most-budget offering in the OnePlus portfolio. Currently, the company sells two models under this series namely the OnePlus TV 32Y1 and 43Y1. As their name suggests, we’re looking at a smart TV with 32-inches and another one with 43-inches. Interestingly enough, both TVs also share similar specifications. The major difference is in the resolution. The smaller panel has an HD resolution with up to 1,366 x 768 pixels while the larger panel has FHD resolution with 1920 x 1080 pixels. This is the only difference, and for that reason, both TVs share a unified software. Hence, the update comes for both TVs at the same time.
Gizchina News of the week
The company calls the new update as OTA2. The OTA1 update was released shortly after the release of these TVs. It worked as a day one patch or first-week patch with bug fixes and overall stability improvements. The OTA2 is more important since it adds support for more Alexa Skills. It also optimizes OnePlus Connect experience, Audio Quality, and System Memory Usage.
OnePlus TV Y series – 32Y1 and 43Y1 OTA 2 update official changelog:
- Alexa is getting a bunch of new skills to improve the TV “smartness”
- OnePlus Connect Experience is receiving optimizations. Therefore, users will experience a better connection between Mobile and TV
- Audio Quality in the default settings has received further optimizations
- System and Memory Usage is improved. Users should experience an improvement in the overall smoothness of the software.
Well, if you’re familiar with OnePlus update rollout for smartphones, you’ll not have any surprise with the TV updates. According to the Chinese company, the update is rolling out in a gradual form. First, it will reach a limited amount of users. If no bugs appear, then the company will roll out this update for more smart TVs.
It’s good to see that users are getting the same level of treatment with the company’s smart TVs.
