Google has a lot of services that make its system very relevant. However, the more the services it offers, the more work that needs to be done to ensure a smooth delivery. According to Google’s G Suite Status Dashboard, a plethora of Google’s services are currently malfunctioning. The likes of Gmail, Drive, Docs, Meet, Groups, Chat, Keep and Voice are all not working normally.

According to The Verge, there is a colossal failure of file uploads across Google’s services. Whether you are attaching a file on Gmail or on any of your G Suite accounts it fails. In addition, in some cases, it becomes even difficult to send an email. A few hours ago, Google said that it was investigating the issues. However, it has now released an official statement to this regard. The company officially confirmed the following issues

Gmail sending issues, Meet recording issues, Creating files issues in Drive, CSV user upload issues in Admin Console, Posting message issues in Google Chat

The investigation into this issue is still ongoing. Google promises that it will provide an update on the issue as soon as possible. It will also release a statement with more information about the problem. On Twitter, there are widespread reports that users are having issues with uploading videos to YouTube. Furthermore, the reports of issues for Gmail and Google Drive are massive on Downdetector. If we go by the Downdetector data, it appears that this issue is a global one. At its peak, Downdetector received over 2,800 reports from users having trouble with Google suite.

According to reports, users have been reporting this issue since around 2:00pm AEST. About an hour later, Google released a statement with a promise that it is investigating the issue. A few minutes later, the search giant confirmed the issues but it is still investigating. Subsequently, the company wrote on its G Suite status dashboard

“We will provide an update by 8/20/20, 6:00 PM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem,”

All we know for now is that an update is coming and Google is investigating. However, we do not know the cause of this issue or its implications. With this malfunctioning, is there an infiltration into Google’s system? Are users data safe? All these are questions that Google will probably answer when it releases an update.
