POCO revolutionized the smartphone world with the introduction of the Pocophone F1 featuring 2018’s flagship chipset and a super affordable price tag. The company had an entire 2019 of hiatus but decided to return this year for an adventure as a separate Xiaomi brand. However, we have to say that so far Poco is quite disappointingly. Rather than releasing new smartphones, the company is all about rebranded Xiaomi and Redmi devices.
The first POCO smartphone released this year was the Poco X2. The device is just a rebranded Redmi K30 4G, which is a good device for mid-range costumers. The second device was the highly-anticipated POCO F2 Pro, but it was nothing besides a rebranded Redmi K30 Pro. The third device launched in India was the Poco M2 Pro. This device, in fact, isn’t a direct rebranding, but still is very close to the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. You can imagine how this brought confusion to costumers in India. Now, Poco is moving to release a new device. Could it be another rebranding, or we’ll finally see an original phone?
Gizchina News of the week
A new Poco premium-midrange phone is coming
The global spokesperson has shared a few hints on his Twitter account. Despite the fact that some of these tweets were deleted, one that stays was referencing Poco’s love for “Hz”. According to rumors, the brand will unveil soon a new smartphone with a 120Hz refresh rate display and OLED. Other rumored specifications include the Snapdragon 765G, 33W fast-charging, and a 64MP main camera. Although these specifications seem to be very promising they still need confirmation. Poco is well known for a long teaser campaign, so we’ll find more in a few days.
With these aforementioned specifications, that device could easily be a worthy competitor for the OnePlus Nord. Xiaomi’s subsidiary is achieving considerable success, but it still needs an actual hit to conquer consumers. After all, the biggest part of Poco fans isn’t happy with the company’s rebranding strategy.
