The last week of August certainly will be marked by multiple smartphone launches. Now, we just got confirmation from a new Oppo smartphone debuting in the next week. The Chinese giant has just confirmed that the highly-anticipated Oppo A53 will be unveiled on August 25 in India. The phone has just landed in Indonesia, and now Oppo India confirmed the arrival of the new mid-range in the country. It will be sold by Flipkart, one of the country’s biggest e-commerce platforms. Unfortunately, the price is yet to be revealed.
Oppo A53 specifications
The Oppo A53 will be a competitive mid-range smartphone with a 6.5-inch LCD Display and an HD+ resolution. Interestingly enough, the panel is rumored has a 90Hz refresh rate. This is a bit odd, after all, why bother bringing a high-refresh-rate on a smartphone with resolution below 1080p? It may be just a matter of opinion, but let’s see how customers will react to this. What is really better, resolution or smoothness? Despite the display, the phone also packs a massive 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast-charging.
Under the hood, the phone carries the brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 chipset. It’s a powerful chipset since it features four Big Cortex-A73 cores. The multi-tasking is ensured by 4GB of RAM while storage is capped at 64GB. Interestingly enough, the phone supports microSD card expansion up to 256GB.
Gizchina News of the week
The phone sports a triple-camera setup with a 16MP unit leading the show. It also comes with 2MP units. On the front, we have a Punch-Hole housing a 16MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture. Other features include a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Since it has 18W fast-charging it’s not hard to guess the availability of a USB-C port.
In Indonesia, the company is asking INR 2.49 million, which is just about $170 / €140. So Oppo India is likely asking INR 12,999 for the handset. Of course, this takes in consideration the 4GB/64GB variant. We don’t know if Oppo is hiding another variant for the Indian country and only the time will confirm.
The new low-end smartphone is available in Electric Black and Fancy Blue color options. We believe that its availability will not be limited to India and Indonesia as Oppo may release it on more countries by September. More details should appear in the coming days.
