Redmi Note 8 Pro is getting MIUI 12 Stable update in India

Redmi Note 8 Pro

The Redmi Note 8 Pro still is alive and kicking as one of the company’s most successful smartphones to the date. The Redmi Note 8 Pro came in August last year as the first device to sport the gaming chipset – Helio G90T – from MediaTek. It also was the first smartphone to hit the market with a 64MP camera from Samsung. The device originally came with MIUI 10 based on Android 9 and later received MIUI 11 update which brought Android 10. Now, Xiaomi is finally rolling out the MIUI 12 stable update for the Redmi Note 8 Pro users in India. The update is reaching the Indian units a few days after the global rollout. The company made the announcement via the MIUI India social media handles.

MIUI 12

The update comes with V12.0.1.0.QGGINXM build number and has a size of 641MB. According to the update changelog, the new firmware brings an all-new physically-based animation engine. It boasts advanced architecture aimed at providing a refreshed look to the device. Interestingly enough, the update also includes the Dynamic-Window technology which greatly improves the screen orientation feature. If you’re familiar with MIUI 12 releases you also know that it introduces new System UI elements, visuals, and languages. Other features include a brand new Control Center, that we have to say takes some inspiration on iOS. MIUI 12 also brings permission management for some applications, revamped Settings App, More control for Privacy, and a stunning Dark Mode 2.0. To download the new system firmware, just head over to Settings-About Phone – System Update and then click on Download and Update your device.

Redmi Note 8 Pro specifications

The Redmi Note 8 Pro features a 6.53-inch display with an FHD+ resolution and a waterdrop notch housing the 20MP selfie snapper. Moving around to the back we have a gorgeous gradient back with a center-aligned Quad-Camera setup. It comprises a 64MP main, 8MP Ultra-Wide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensors.

Under the hood, we have the Helio G90T Octa-Core featuring Two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.05GHz and Six Cortex-A55 cores. There is a Mali-G76 MC4 GPU ensuring that the smartphone will be able to run most of the Play Store games without much stress. It can easily run popular games like PUBG, COD, and Fortnite with high-graphic settings.

The phone draws power from a 4,500mAh battery with 18W-fast charging and the Global variants support NFC. This feature is unavailable on the Indian variants, however, the Indian units support dual-SIM + microSD card features. The Global units have to deal with the Hybrid SIM / MicroSD card trays.
