Gionee M30 goes official with 10,000mAh battery and Android Nougat

Gionee M30

In 2020 we can pretty much say that lovers of battery are finally getting served with the 4,000mAh capacity becoming a standard on smartphones. There are even companies that are starting to push the 5,000mAh capacities. The more the better one would say, and based on this Gionee wants to serve all the battery enthusiasts with a new smartphone packing a massive 10,000mAh battery – The Gionee M30.

One month ago, we saw the Gionee M30 visiting the TENAA certification agency with this massive battery. The name was a mystery on that occasion, but now it has been fully revealed by the Chinese phone maker. The smartphone boasts the giant, monstrous, 10,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging. Despite this, the phone has a sleek design with an aluminum frame and back. Despite this, we have one of the heaviest devices in the market tipping the scale at 305 grams. However, this is a sacrifice that you’ll certainly accept for the sake of battery life.

Gionee M30 specifications

The Gionee M30 flaunts a 6-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution. The low resolution certainly will make the battery lasts even more. Under the hood, we have the MediaTek Helio P60 Octa-core plus 8GB of RAM and 128GB of Expandable storage. The chipset is a little bit old right now, but it’s still better than having an Helio P22 on this handset. After all, why we would need a big battery if the phone can’t handle intensive tasks? The Helio P60 can run all apps without any problem though we’re not certain about its gaming capabilities. While it may run games like PUBG, don’t expect it to support the highest quality settings.

Gizchina News of the week

The phone comes with a 16MP main camera and 8MP front snapper with face unlock support. There is a fingerprint scanner on the leather-texturized back. Gionee states that this phone comes with a dedicated chip for memory encryption. It’s a dual-SIM phone with LTE connectivity. The phone packs a 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers. Thankfully it has USB Type-C port, although the company didn’t specify if there is a fast-charging technology employed to charge this battery. We hope so, after all, getting a 10,000mAh fully charged would be a problem for a limited charging capability. We don’t expect more than 18W though.

Curiously, Gionee didn’t reveal the Android version on this smartphone. And this just confirms our biggest fears – It comes with Android Nougat. One month ago, TENAA revealed the phone with the 2016’s Android version. We can understand, why Gionee is so shy about revealing the truth.

The Gionee M30 will retail for CNY 1,399 ($202). Sales start on August 31.
