Realme UI: New features for “Remote Guard” parental control settings are coming

Realme UI

Earlier handsets from Realme came with ColorOS, but with the arrival of Android 10, the company introduced its own skin Realme UI. It still brings ColorOS by nature, but the company has been working hard to introduce new exclusive features. Realme UI is getting new features based on user suggestions since its initial release. The company has just announced new features for “Remote Guard”.

Nowadays, most Chinese Android Skins offer parental control options. With the help of these settings, parents and guardians can monitor their children/wards. With the introduction of “Remote Guard” Oppo brought its own implementation of guardian settings. This feature is present on Realme UI since its very first iterations. However, the Realme’s custom skin is the first to announce new features for the service. The news has been shared on Realme’s Chinese forums.

A set of new features for Realme UI – Remote Guard service

According to the brand’s post, the App for Remote Guard has been now redesigned. Users can now add multiple guardians to their wards and can even provide vital family information. Moreover, contact numbers of guardians can be now set as SOS contact so that wards can make calls easily in the event of an emergency.

Furthermore, the Remote Guard now supports multiple guardians. The app has a new screen which shows the person in charge of the ward at the given moment. Moreover, the guardians are also able to monitor their ward’s smartphone usage. They can even have access to a dashboard with handset usage statistics just like Google Digital Wellbeing.

With the new features, Parents will also be able to limit their ward’s smartphone usage by blocking access to specific apps and games. Moreover, the service automatically blocks fraudulent calls and SMS spam. Last but not least, guardians or parents will be able to know the whereabouts of their ward with real-time location tracking.

As we have mentioned before, most of the Chinese OEMs include parental control settings in their Android skin like Realme. However, they don’t provide them in the global version of their mobile software. Hence, there’s a small chance for the above-mentioned features to be made available in markets other than China.

It’s interesting to see Realme putting effort to make Realme UI stand as a distinct software option. We all know that it still is ColorOS in essence, but it’s good to see Realme UI walking to be a full-fledged unique experience.
