The upcoming LG Wing dual-screen smartphone will cost around $1,000

For several days, rumors about a new concept smartphone from LG called Wing have been circulating on the web. We already know exactly how it will look, roughly assume its technical characteristics, but what about the price? And here everything becomes even more interesting.

The upcoming LG Wing dual-screen smartphone will cost around $1,000

The cost of this device was of great interest to the guys from XDA-Developers. They cite sources familiar with LG’s plans for the Wing. According to them, the new smartphone will be estimated at about $ 1,000.

The news came immediately after two videos revealing the design and operation of the LG Wing hit the web. The smartphone surprises with its appearance. It has a 6.8-inch main screen and a 4-inch auxiliary screen.

Oddly enough, some publications believe that the price tag is not that crazy. After all, now, in the days of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Microsoft Surface Duo, at a cost of $1,500+ you won’t surprise anyone, but here is such a “generous” offer for a rather unusual device. True, according to rumors, the new LG device will use the Snapdragon 765G processor instead of the flagship chips installed in its, so to speak, “competitors”. This will definitely be able to divert the interest of a potential buyer.

However, these are all rumors. We are waiting for official statements from the Korean company to make a final opinion on the new product.

Odd LG smartphone with a rotating screen shown on live video

LG is known for its experiments with the smartphone form factor. The company was planning to release a device with a stretchable display, then it releases a special case for its flagship LG V60 ThinQ, which turns it to be like the Galaxy Fold.

And recently, a video of a new device from the Koreans has leaked to the Network. In it, you can see a smartphone called Wing, which has an additional display on board that can be rotated along an axis. The advantage of this design, according to the Android Authority, is that it can multitask.

The second display will allow users to receive calls or control music without having to exit the required application. The video suggests that this functionality will be especially useful when driving.

The video is rumored to show a pre-sale version of the smartphone, confirming a previous leak that said the smartphone would start shipping before the end of the year.

Also, along with the video, some speculation about the characteristics of the LG Wing appeared. The smartphone is rumored to be powered by a Snapdragon 7xx chipset with support for 5G networks and has a 64-megapixel main camera.

Interestingly, the video does not show any cutouts or holes for the front camera. This also made it possible to fantasize about the presence of a front camera under the display. But, most likely, it will be built into the second screen.
