ZTE Axon 20 5G Under-screen Camera Phone Leaked For The First Time

ZTE Axon 20 5G

In a few days, the world’s first under-screen camera phone will be launched. And though we know Xiaomi is working on a similar device as well, its models will be launched only in 2021. Thus, ZTE has a small window to capture more market share and improve the brand image. Today, the ZTE AXON 20 5G was spotted in a spy photo for the first time.

Leaked Photo Of ZTE Axon 20 5G

As shown in the photo, the ZTE AXON 20 5G hides the front camera under the screen. Thus, we are dealing with the first true full-screen smartphone. As we can see, there are no bangs, not water drop area, and no holes.

More importantly, the ZTE AXON 20 5G does not have the so-called ‘screen window effect’. The latter refers to the inconsistency of the screen display effect, like separating a screen window on the front camera.

According to the official introduction, ZTE’s under-screen camera has created a unique natural pixel arrangement technology. When the phone needs to display content or take a picture, the independent chip will transmit the instruction to the driver circuit. And the driver circuit will then transmit the instruction to the pixel. So the screen in the camera area under the screen will not take pictures. Shortly, it will display normally at time, and remain transparent when taking pictures.

Gizchina News of the week

According to ZTE’s Lu Qianhao, for the under-screen camera, the most difficult part is to achieve light transmission enhancement and display enhancement, giving users a stunning full-screen form and better selfies. ‘Through our engineers and partners’ efforts to innovate these two issues, we have obtained a relatively satisfactory experience from users and met the requirements of mass production.’

In terms of core configuration, the ZTE AXON 20 5G uses a 6.92-inch OLED full screen. It should come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor. The maximum memory capacity will be 12GB. The front-facing camera will have a 32MP resolution, while the back multi-sensor camera will come with a 64MP main lens. The battery will be 4120mAh.

Specifications Of Under-screen Camera Technology

Apart from this, today, Ni Fei, President of ZTE’s Terminal Business Unit, promoted the ZTE AXON 20 5G. Ni Fei said that for the ‘more transparent than transparent’ screen solution introduced before, you should remember that the seven-layer screen is divided into an under-screen camera area and a regular area.

In the early variant, these two areas needed to be driven by different chips, which would bring a series of problems: the structure and process are particularly complicated. It is very difficult to drive the display synchronously, and there is no possibility of mass production.

The ZTE engineer team developed an independent drive screen display chip for an overall drive. This solved the problem of display synchronization among different areas and realized the feasibility of mass production.

The phone will hit the market on September 1.
