Huawei Enjoy 20

Huawei has been making the headlines lately, and apart from the ban, we’ve seen a couple of news and leaks regarding the Huawei Enjoy 20 and Enjoy 20 Plus smartphones. These new devices are expected to come as the company’s most affordable 5G smartphones. Today, the company took to the Chinese Social Media, Weibo, to confirm that the new Enjoy 20 and 20 Plus will be revealed in China on September 3.

Huawei Enjoy 20

The poster shared by the Chinese Behemoth showcases two Enjoy 20 smartphones. The one with the circular camera array is the Huawei Enjoy 20 Plus 5G, whereas the one featuring a square-ish camera island is the vanilla Enjoy 20. Recent leaks have revealed some of the key specifications coming with these two handsets. According to reports, the vanilla Enjoy 20 will come with a CNY 1,000 (~$146) pricing. It will not only make it Huawei’s cheapest 5G smartphone but the world’s cheapest 5G smartphone in 2020. We’ve been impressed with some devices like the Redmi K30i that expanded the availability of 5G connectivity, however, it will be the first time we see a 5G smartphone coming below the $170 range.

Huawei Enjoy 20 5G series alleged specifications

So, what is the magic behind this super affordable 5G smartphone? According to the leaked specifications, this device is quite beyond what we would expect on the $150 range. The vanilla Enjoy 20 5G has a display of 6.5-inches with Full HD+ resolution and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The phone draws power from a massive 5,000mAh battery and it may come with 4GB/6GB/8GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of Internal Storage. The phone packs an 8MP selfie snapper and a Triple-Rear camera comprising a 13MP main, 5MP and 2MP secondary sensors. The fingerprint scanner rests on the side of the phone.

The Huawei Enjoy 20 Plus 5G packs a bigger 6.63-inch IPS LCD with a 20:9 aspect ratio and FHD+ resolution true bezel-less display. It’s one of the few devices in 2020 to come with a pop-up selfie camera. The motorized module comes with a 16MP unit. On the rear camera department, we have a 48MP main, 8MP, and 2MP lens. Interestingly enough, the phone packs a smaller 4,200mAh battery. However, it does come with a pretty satisfactory 40W fast-charging support. The phone will be available in two variants with 6GB / 8GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of Internal Storage. Just like the vanilla variant, the Plus edition includes Android 10 with EMUI 10.1. Last but not least it has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Enjoy 20 5G and Enjoy Plus 5G handsets will be pretty important for the company’s future in the smartphone series. After all, they’ll come with MediaTek’s Dimensity chipsets. The Taiwanese chipmaker basically has been Huawei’s plan B for keeping its wave of smartphones. While the pricing of the Enjoy 20 still is a “rumor”, the Enjoy 20 Plus 5G price has been listed by China Telecom at 1,899 Yuan (~$277).

We’ll know all the remaining details in a few days.
