Since the last couple of months, we’ve been hearing a lot about the upcoming LG Wing rotating smartphone. We have seen numerous leaks and rumors in the past and it looks those will soon come to an end. The South Korean giant has now confirmed the launch date of the smartphone. Well, the upcoming smartphone will see its official unveiling on September 14 at 11 PM KST time (2 PM UTC).
LG Wing smartphone official launch teased in a new video!
Recently, LG posted a new video on its official YouTube channel announcing the launch date of the device. In the 23 seconds invitation video, the smartphone maker has given a small glimpse of the form factor at the 14-second mark. Furthermore, the brand announced that the upcoming unique device will be a part of the company’s “Explorer Project”. The all-new Explorer Project will bring forth “distinctive and yet unexplored usability experiences”.

The Velvet devices, on the other hand, will now fall under the company’s Universal Line. According to the brand, this line will bring “competitive devices that focus on consumer lifestyles”. A couple of days ago, we saw a report revealing the expected pricing of the smartphone. Well, the LG Wing should be priced somewhere around $1,000. Before this, we even saw the device in action in the two leaked videos both of which reveal the design and operation of the device. As you can see, in one of the videos, we saw a person using LG Wing for both map navigation and call making use of the rotating design.
The brand is also partnering with Qualcomm, search engine Naver along with streaming platforms such as Tubi and Ficto. To recall, LG Wing comes with two separate displays that can swivel 90 degrees to form a T-shaped form factor.
Expected Specs, Features
Last week, we even saw the LG Wing appearing on the GeekBench listing revealing some key internals. Under the hood, the device runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset paired with 8GB RAM and Adreno 620 GPU. The device will have an 8-inch primary display along with a 4-inch horizontal panel. Lastly, it will make use of the latest Android 10 operating system. For optics, the device should arrive with a 64MP primary sensor. With that said, we are expecting more official information to surface on the web in the coming days.
