As scheduled, Oppo has now added new mid-range devices to its Indian market. Yes! we’re talking about the Oppo F17 and Oppo F17 Pro. With the official launch, the Chinese smartphone maker has put an end to all the previous leaks and rumors. The F17 and F17 Pro succeeds the F15 device that was launched earlier this year. With the new lineup, Oppo has now changed the ideology behind its F-series. We’re now looking at phones that are thinner, faster, and has better internals. Well, let’s take a look at the offering of this new lineup.
Oppo F17, F17 Pro: Price, Availability
Before we talk about the internals, let’s look at the official Indian pricing of the smartphones. The vanilla Oppo F17 comes in multiple storage configurations starting from 4+64GB option to 8GB+128GB. Sadly, the brand has neither revealed the official pricing nor the release date. The F17 Pro, on the other hand, comes in a single 8GB RAM and 128GB storage option. It will set you back around INR 23,000 (i.e. $313) and will be up for grabs starting from September 7.

Let’s talk about the Pro variant of the smartphone. The all-new Oppo F17 Pro arrives with a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED panel having a 1080p+ resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. The smartphone is certified to play HD videos from Netflix and Prime Video. For added protection, there is a layer of Gorilla Glass 3 on top. Under the hood, the device is powered by a MediaTek Helio P95 chipset paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. According to the brand, the chipset offers an optimized GPU with low-latency and lag-free rendering.
In terms of optics, there is a quad rear camera module on the back in a square module. The setup consists of a single 48MP primary sensor (f/1.2 aperture), an 8MP ultrawide lens (f/2.2), and two monochromatic 2MP sensors. For selfies and video calling, there is a dual selfie camera housed inside the punch-hole cutout. The module features a single 16MP primary sensor paired with a 2MP depth sensor. The company is teasing various AI-related camera features such as fun portrait modes, bokeh effect, AI super clean portrait, and restore facial features.
The smartphone also comes with an AirGestures that allows you to answer a call without touching it. Lastly, we’re looking at an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The vanilla Oppo F17 packs the same display panel but with a single punch-hole cutout for selfies. It powers on a different chipset namely Snapdragon 662. We’re looking at the same quad-camera module but with a 16MP primary sensor (f/2.2 aperture). Both the devices make use of a 4,000 mAh battery with the support of VOOC 4.0 30W charging. Lastly, both the devices run on Android 10 with ColorOS 7.2.
