OnePlus 8T will charge in just 35 minutes thanks to Warp Charge 65

OnePlus 8T

The OnePlus 8T has quickly progressed from a rumored device from something that is really coming in the next month. Over the past few days, we’ve seen a set of leaks detailing future smartphones. More recently, OnePlus started its own teaser campaign with some words coming straight from the company’s CEO Pete Lau. We already know some of the phone’s specifications thanks to these teasers and a wide array of leaks. Now, the company decided to tease another interesting capability coming with the OnePlus 8T a blazing-fast 65W fast-charging technology, coming as Warp Charge 65.

With the arrival of the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, the company started to play with the Warp Charge 30, which delivers 30 Watts of charging. We’re in 2020, and this is no longer an impressive amount. For that reason, with the upcoming smartphone, the company is doubling the charging capabilities to Warp Charge 65. The number is rather suspicious, especially if you’re familiar with Oppo and Realme smartphones. No big surprises, Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme are all part of the same BBK conglomerate, hence, it’s common to see these companies sharing and rebranding technology solutions.

Gizchina News of the week

According to OnePlus, the new charging standard can deliver “a day’s power in just 15 minutes”. Moreover, the company states that a user is able to charge the OnePlus 8T up to 58% in just 15 minutes and 100% in just 35 minutes. The new feature is being teased through a YouTube video. At the same time, Pete Lau decided to share further details of Warp Charge 65 with PCMag. According to him, the new charging speed comes with a cost. OnePlus 8T

It’s not a big surprise to see this technology coming. After all, just like some Oppo smartphones featuring 65W charging, the OnePlus 8T comes with a dual-cell battery design with a total capacity of 4,500mAh. This solution is being used since it allows the charger to provide energy for both batteries at the same time and faster without stressing them too much. In a single-cell design, that amount would probably harm the battery. OnePlus added an encryption chip to the charger and cable as well as 12 temperature sensors in the phone so the OnePlus 8T. With this combo, the setup can negotiate the right voltage/current combination. The phone will also bring a new “heat dissipation system” allowing the battery to stay under safe temperatures.
