Back in December 2019, Samsung launched its second iteration of Active smartwatches namely the Galaxy Watch Active in India. A couple of months ago, the chaebol even introduced a 4G variant of the watch with a ‘Made in India’ badge. Well, the wearable is now receiving a new Tizen 5.5 software update bringing various much-awaited features. As expected, the update brings numerous features from the latest Galaxy Watch 3 to the Active 2 smartwatch.
Galaxy Watch Active 2 gets Tizen 5.5 update in India!
After the US, Samsung has now started seeding the all-new Tizen 5.5 software to the Galaxy Watch Active 2 smartwatches in India. The new firmware update carries the version number R820XXU1CTI4 and it brings Tizen 5.5 along with One UI 2.0. Here are the features that the new software update brings to the table.
- Advanced Running Analysis to give you insights to improve your running form
- VO2max to measure the amount of oxygen utilized during excercise
- Fall detection
- Enhanced notification with the chat window, ability to view images
- AR Emoji or Bitmoji allowing you to send them through the watch
- Capture feature that automatically sends the screen capture image to your phone

As you can see, the new update brings all the latest features to the Galaxy Watch Active 2 wearable. The update weighs around 292.21MB so you can update it via mobile data as well. It is worth noting that the update size for the LTE version is going to be slightly different.

Price, Variants
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 comes in two variants namely Steel and Aluminium while it also has three color options – Black, Silver, and Pink. For connectivity, we’re looking at 4G and Bluetooth. At the time of writing this, the Bluetooth Aluminium is priced at ₹ 24,090 while the Steel Bluetooth version will set you back ₹28,490. The 4G Aluminium comes with a ₹28,490 price tag. The 4G steel variant, on the other hand, is priced at ₹32,490. There are a few offers that Samsung is offering as well.
