iPhone 13 series will use a 120Hz ProMotion display – no iPhone SE 3 before 2022

iPhone 12

While we wait for the arrival of Apple’s first 5G smartphones, the iPhone 12 series, there is information about its next-generation smartphones, iPhone 13 series. Recently, display analyst Ross Young shared a series of information about “iPhone 13” from Mizuho Securities. The iPhone 13 lineup predicted by Mizuho Securities looks very similar to the expected iPhone 12 lineup. It will include a 6.7-inch “Pro Max” model, a 6.1-inch “Pro” model, a 6.1-inch non-Pro model Model, and a 5.4-inch “mini” model. It can be seen that these devices will not have major changes in design and appearance.

According to speculations, all iPhone 13 models will integrate touch technology. Furthermore, the report claims that BOE will work with LG Display to produce displays for the 6.1-inch iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro. There are also reports that Samsung will provide Apple with Y-Octa technology for all iPhone 13 displays.

Ross Young claims that the “most important improvement” on the iPhone 13 Pro model will be the ProMotion display with 120Hz function. It uses LTPO display technology to support variable refresh rates. It appears that the 120Hz display will not appear on the iPhone until 2021.

Apple iPhone 13 series is not much different from the iPhone 12 series

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will get the same camera sensor as the iPhone 12 Pro Max. However, the sensor size of the two Pro models will increase. This means that the cameras of all models will improve significantly.

Ross Young also predicts that both iPhone 13 Pro models will use lidar scanners. However, whether this feature will appear on non-Pro models remains to be seen. For the iPhone 12, the rumors did not clarify whether LiDAR will appear on all Pro models or only on the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max.

All iPhone 13 models may support sub-6GHz 5G networks, but Pro models will also support the faster mmWave 5G. This year, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is the only model to offer the mmWave 5G.

Ross Young also stated that there will be no third-generation iPhone SE before the spring of 2022. The third-generation iPhone SE is expected to have a 6.1-inch LCD display, Touch ID, sub-6GHz 5G, and the same dual cameras as the iPhone 11. This indicates that it will copy the design of the iPhone 11 in 2019. Of course, the iPhone SE model adopts the design of the old device but upgrades the internals. It will probably integrate Touch ID into the power button like the iPad Air 4.
