MediaTek MT9602 SoC Announced: Motorola Will Release New TVs With It Tomorrow

MediaTek, today, released the MT9602 SoC for high-end smart TVs. The chip has more comprehensive functions and supports 4K HDR display.

The SoC has features such as AI-PQ (image quality), AI-AQ (sound quality), HDMI 2.1a support, global HDR, AV1 and AVS2 decoding support. MediaTek said it can improve image and audio quality for real-time video.

Flipkart has cooperated with Motorola to launch HD, FHD and QHD resolution smart TVs equipped with MediaTek MT9602 in India. These new products should be announced tomorrow, on October 9. Officially, this will be the first smart TV on the Indian market that uses the Android 10 system.

The MediaTek MT9602 uses a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 design, has a Mali-G52 MC1 GPU, and supports 2GB of storage.

The MediaTek MT9602 comes with AI voice technology. It also supports up to four directional microphones, integrated voice assistant, can realize hands-free voice control and supports home IoT integration. The rest of the noteworthy features include Dolby Atmos support, Dolby Vision HDR, HDR10+, BBC HLG, etc. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi and an efficient response time compensation engine to help reduce blur.

Existing Motorola TVs

Motorola currently has 32-inch, 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch smart TV models in its portfolio and these range from HD to UHD 4K displays. The pricings start from Rs. 14,999 and go up to Rs. 1,19,999. These models were released in India a year ago. In total, there are 6 models. The entry-level features a 32-inch diagonal and an HD ready resolution. The top of the range features a 65-inch screen with 4K resolution. The interesting aspect is that all the models, even the basic one, have a soundbar with support for DTS TruSurround. Available for all models a wireless gamepad and a remote control with buttons dedicated to the streaming services such as Netflix and YouTube. For all, Android TV 9.0 operating system. The models offering 4K resolution (43, 50, 55 and 65 inches) have a quad-core processor up to 1.1 GHz combined with a Mali 450 GPU, 2.25 GB of RAM and a 16 GB of internal storage. The 32-inch (HD ready) and 43-inch (Full HD) models integrate a quad-core TEE processor paired with a Mali 470MP3 GPU with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage.
