The ban on Huawei by the U.S. government is affecting its smartphone business. However, it is not affecting the company’s overall development. Yesterday, the Chinese manufacturer held the inauguration of its Lagrange R&D center in Paris. This is Huawei’s sixth research institute in France. The institute will cooperate with the Île-de-France region to fully tap local human resources. It will also focus on basic research in mathematics and computing.
Xu Wenwei, Director of Huawei and Dean of the Strategic Research Institute, said: “Mathematics has played a key role in the development of the communications industry in the past 30 years. Huawei has worked closely with many mathematicians to achieve major innovations. The Lagrange R&D Center is a platform open to all mathematicians around the world. In the future, the research results here will serve the entire communications industry”.
