Huawei Mate 40 series rear camera sensors and design exposed


In recent times, there have been multiple reports regarding the upcoming Huawei Mate 40 series. The latest of these reports is the rear camera design. It is already established that all the smartphones in this series will come with a dual punch-hole front camera design. However, for the rear, all the smartphones in this series use different designs. Even the number of sensors are different. Now, we have new information that gives us the design and number of camera sensors for the entire Mate 40 series.

Huawei Mate 40 series

  • Huawei Mate 40 – For this smartphone, it uses a triple rear camera setup as well as an LED flash. All the sensors are arranged in a circular structure.
  • Huawei Mate 40 Pro – For the Pro model, it uses a quad rear camera setup with an LED flash. Just like the regular Mate 40, the Pro model sensors is in a ring structure.
  • Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ – For this device, it uses five rear cameras with an LED flash. All sensors are also in a round design.
  • Huawei Mate 40 RS Porsche Design – Just like the Pro+ model, this smartphone also uses a Penta rear camera setup. However, it also has an LED flash as well as a colour temperature sensor on the rear. Furthermore, all the sensors are arranged in an octagonal pattern.

In addition to the colour temperature sensor, the Mate 40 RS Porsche design also has a temperature sensor. The five rear cameras include a main camera, zoom, ultra-wide-angle, an unknown lens, and ToF lens.

Huawei Mate 40 series speculations

According to previous reports, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro uses a 6.76-inch 2772 × 1344 pixel OLED waterfall screen. All the smartphones in this series will use the Kirin 9000 processor (octa-core, 5nm process 4xARM Cortex-A55, up to 2.04GHz, 3xARM Cortex-A77, up to 2.54GHz , 1xCortex-A77, up to 3.13GHz). While the RAM size will be up to 12GB, the internal storage would reach 512GB with support for microSD. The rear Leica triple camera supports 8K video recording and 5x optical zoom. 

In terms of software, the Mate 40 Pro will be pre-installed with EMUI 11 based on Android 11 and HMS. However, the Huawei Mate 40 will come with an EMUI 10.x system. The battery capacity of the Mate 40 series is 4300 mAh, 4600 mAh, and 5000 mAh. They are applicable to Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, and Mate 40 Pro+ respectively. The battery will support 66W fast charging in one of the phones at least. It will also support wireless and reverse wireless charging. Other aspects include support for NanoMemory slot, which can hold Huawei dedicated memory card, support for Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and WiFi 6.
