After the release of the Mi Box 4 SE package version in January last year, there have been no new Mi Box products for 20 months. This may sound normal for many users who are not aware of Xiaomi TV products. But those follow this brand, should know Xiaomi is one of the main players in the TV box niche in many regions. This morning, Xiaomi’s official Weibo channel announced: See you tomorrow for the new Mi Box 4S! The appointment opens on October 21, and the price is 289 yuan ($43).
The new products mainly have the following characteristics:
- Dual-band Wi-Fi, faster transmission and more stable signal;
- The standard voice remote control can be used by both the elderly and children;
- 4K HDR ultra-high-definition output, blockbuster experience is shocking and realistic;
- 2GB+8GB large storage.

The previous generation of tge Mi Box 4 was released on January 29, 2018. It came at an initial price of 349 yuan ($52). At the moment, this TV box is sold for 299 yuan ($45).
In terms of configuration, the Mi Box 4 sports an Amlogic Cortex-A53 quad-core processor (64-bit, 1.5GHz). It has a built-in Mali-450 GPU (3+2 core, 750MHz). Due to these features, the box supports an output resolution of 4K (3840×2160). The rest of the noteworthy features include HDR and support for H. 265 4K, 2K@60 frames/sec video decoding.
Apart from this, the Mi Box 4 comes with 2GB memory + 8GB high-speed memory combination. As for the rest of the features, we should mention BLE low energy Bluetooth 4.1, DOLBY AUDIO, and DTS-HD audio dual decoding support. Like the Xiaomi Mi Box 4S, it supports voice remote control.
From this point of view, the main upgrade of new products is in terms of network. Say, the Mi Box 4 only supports 802.11b/g/n and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, while the Mi Box 4s supports 2.4GHz/5GHz dual-band Wi-Fi.
At the moment, there are not many details disclosed by the manufacturer. But tomorrow, when it will go on sale, we will know more. So stay tuned.
