iPhones have always had smaller batteries and less RAM than competitors’ smartphones. And these parameters were the reason for the hate towards Apple products. The company itself added fuel to the fire, which prefers not to voice these indicators at presentations. Oddly enough, it avoids publishing this information on the pages of her site.
Here is the amount of RAM and battery capacity of the iPhone 12 series
Thanks to TENAA, The Chinese certification authority, we get information on the RAM and the battery every year for the new iPhones. Indeed, in order to enter the Chinese market, Apple is forced to obtain approval from this department for the release of new products and disclose information about the characteristics. This time too, TENAA provided the necessary information.
This is the battery capacity for the 2020 iPhone flagships:
- iPhone 12 mini – 2227 mAh
- iPhone 12 – 2851 mAh
- iPhone 12 Pro – 2815 mAh
- iPhone 12 Pro Max – 3687 mAh
In the case of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Max, we are dealing with a downgrade. For comparison, the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max had 3,110mAh and 3,969mAh batteries, respectively. It seems that in terms of autonomy, Apple made a bet on the energy efficiency of the 5nm A14 Bionic chip.
If we talk about the amount of RAM, then the alignment of forces is as follows:
- iPhone 12 mini – 4 GB
- iPhone 12 — 4 GB
- iPhone 12 Pro — 6 GB
- iPhone 12 Pro Max — 6 GB.
It turns out that the two younger iPhone 12 models received the same amount of RAM as the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. But the older models have increased the amount of RAM to 6 GB. And let’s be objective that that much RAM is enough for the vast majority of tasks.

DxOMark: iPhone 12 Pro Max camera is not the best
Recently on October 16, Apple began accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. Then, reviewers and specialized resources began to receive their copies of new iPhones. But until Yesterday, October 21, they were not entitled to publish reviews and comparisons. Among those who received the iPhone 12 Pro Max for the test were the specialists of the DxOMark lab. They have already given preliminary comments about the smartphone.
In particular, they expressed doubts that the telephoto lens of the iPhone 12 Pro Max will surprise and impress with its capabilities. In their opinion, neither the focal length increased to 65 mm, nor the 5x optical zoom gives a competitive advantage over rivals. Also, in terms of its capabilities, the camera should be inferior to the zoom lenses in the Huawei P40 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra, where sensors with a focal length of 125 mm and 120 mm are installed, respectively.
Such statements already indicate that DxOMark experts are skeptical about the iPhone 12 Pro Max camera and they are unlikely to give a high score to the new product from Apple. However, let’s not rush to conclusions, but wait for a full review from DxOMark.
