Vivo is in a roll recently with monthly smartphone launches. The company recently unveiled its Vivo V20 series and now is ready to debut a new pair of devices in the Chinese stronghold. Two new devices are now available in the company’s home market – The Vivo Y30 and Vivo Y3s. As usual, these aren’t new faces, but rebranded devices that have a different name in India. The Vivo Y30 in India is known as Vivo Y20, while the Y3s is the Vivo Y17. There is a Vivo Y30 in Russia, but for whatever reason, Vivo has decided that the Vivo Y20 will be a better Vivo Y30 in China.
Vivo Y30 specifications
The Vivo Y30 comes with an excellent Snapdragon 460 chipset. Okay, we know that this is a budget-oriented chipset, but it comes with four BIG Cortex-A73 cores that make the performance a level beyond other devices with conventional Cortex-A53 cores. The phone is paired with a whopping 8GB of RAM and 128GB of Storage. Interestingly enough, in India, customers can get a single variant with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. You can always expand this amount thanks to a dedicated microSD card slot.
The device flaunts a 6.51-inch IPS LCD with 1,600 x 720 pixels of resolution. This panel brings a waterdrop notch at the top that serves as a house for the 8MP selfie snapper. Talking about the cameras, the device brings a Triple-Camera array on the back that sits on a rectangular island with a black tint. It comprises a 13MP f/1.8 main snapper, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor. As you can see this is a modest camera setup.
Gizchina News of the week
The phone draws power from a huge 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast-charging. It runs Android 10 straight out of the box with FunTouch OS 10.5 running on top.
The device is available in three colorways, Dawn White, Obsidian Black, and Aqua Blue. It retails at CNY 1,498 (~$224,10) and the first sale will start on October 26 at 10:00 local time.
Vivo Y3s specifications
The Vivo Y3s is a simpler device with low-end aspirations. It boasts an Helio P35 Cortex-A53 Octa-Core paired with 4GB of RAM. The impressive bit is that it actually comes with 128GB of Storage. You’ll have plenty of space in a phone that can’t run more than simple applications and casual games. Of course, graphic-intensive games can run but don’t expect more than average settings.
The device flaunts a 6.35-inch LCD with 1,544 x 720 pixels of resolution. It also comes with a waterdrop notch at the top housing an 8MP selfie snapper. It’s actually a beautiful display for the pricing point. Moving around to the back we have a triple-camera array comprising a 13MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, and 2MP depth sensor. It’s interesting to see that this handset has an ultra-wide sensor considering that the more expensive Y30 lacks one.
The phone also comes with a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast-charging and Android 10 with FunTouchOS running atop.
Vivo will sell this device for CNY 1,198 that is $179,22. It will be available in Red, Dark Blue, and Sea Breeze colorways. Sales will be open on October 26.
