The market of wearables is trending as ever in 2020! In fact, it was one of the few business segments in technology that achieved good results in the first months plagued by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a direct result, we’re seeing more and more companies betting on this particular segment, especially on true-wireless earphones. The range of TWS devices is finally catching customers since there are plenty of affordable and good options right now. While some companies are working to increase the accessibility, others are working hard to make their TWS offerings stand against the competition. For example, we have LG that released its second-gen TONE Free TWS earbuds in July, and now is releasing a new LG TONE Free TWS version with ANC (Active Noise Cancelling).
Well, the second generation was much more than a mere update to the TWS hearables. LG introduced a new design and a self-cleaning charging case. The new hearables come with a better stem design that honestly resembles Apple’s Airpods Pro. The company also updated the charging case with ultraviolet light to automatically sanitize the earbuds when not in use. Honestly, this is the kind of innovation we also want to see in other TWS Earbuds. Now, the company is unveiling a new feature that comes with the highly-requested ANC feature.

A familiar face with upgraded sound
The new LG TONE FREE TWS earbuds feature HBS-FN7 model number and are just a mere update over its “sibling”. We have the same design and self-cleaning case. Therefore, the biggest upgrade here is the implementation of Active Noise Cancellation. This feature will greatly boost the user experience since you’ll be able to experience an immersive audio experience even in noisy environments. LG brings an array of three microphones in each earbud. These microphones will monitor the soundwaves coming from all directions and neutralize noise when ANC is active.
Just like its predecessor, the new upgraded TWS also bring Meridian Audio’s Digital Signal Processing (DSP) tech. It creates a realistic soundstage for an immersive and improved listening experience. The company offers a companion app with four distinct presets. Users can pick either Natural, Immersive, Bass Boost, and Treble Boost modes. The last add-on is a LED indication on the charging case. It will allow users to check the charging level and UVnano status.
The company will be selling the new LG TONE FREE FN7 TWS earbuds in North America, Europe, and Asia. However, for now, it will be limited to the South-Korean market with a KRW 219,000 price tag (~$193). It comes with premium features, but also features a premium price tag.
