Storage expansion via MicroSD card is not possible on the iPhones. You only get what your native storage has. Typically, the iPhone lineup starts with 64GB internal storage and goes up to 512GB. This year, Apple ditched the 64GB version for the Pro models and made 128GB a standard. Now, a tipster suggests we might see a step further and get 1TB internal storage on the iPhone 13 models.
If you are wondering, the 512GB storage option was unveiled by Apple in 2018. The iPhone XS was the first one to feature 512GB internal storage. Currently, we get to see 64GB, 128GB, 256GB for the vanilla iPhone 12 Mini, and iPhone 12. Whereas, the iPhone 12 Pro lineup gets 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB versions. This year they ditched the 64GB for the iPhone 12 Pro versions.

Next year, they might also ditch the 64GB from the vanilla iPhone 13 models. Making 128GB, 256GB and 512GB options available for vanilla iPhone 13. And 256GB, 512GB and 1TB version for the iPhone 13 Pro models. The 1TB iPhone 13 is hinted at by one and only Jon Prosser, a popular Apple insider. But how does it make sense? A 512GB seems more than enough in 2020, and 1TB is just insane.
Gizchina News of the week
8K video recording
Apple is all about future proof. The iPhone 12 Pro series focuses on the camera. The camera advancement by Apple is really stepping up the game for mobile photography. With higher image quality comes a bigger size. Currently, the iPhone supports 4K 60fps video recording. But in the near future, probably the next-gen iPhone 13 will support 8K video recording. It will take much more space and then we will see the advantage of the 1TB internal storage. We have seen the 8K video recording earlier on the Galaxy S20. Talking about numbers, a 5-minute 8K footage would take up around 3GB of space on the S20. And you can imagine, what space will it cost for a higher duration.
iPhone 13 – What we know so far?
Too early for Apple iPhone 13 leaks and rumors. However, we know that the notch isn’t going away on the iPhone 13. Earlier, I wrote about the future of notch in the iPhones. According to that, we might see a thinner notch than currently used. There are rumors about the 120Hz ProMotion display which sadly didn’t make its way to the iPhone 12 series. And finally, there is speculation on a portless iPhone 13 Pro model. Let us know what you want to see on the iPhone 13 in the comments section below.
