Earlier this year, Sony unveiled the Xperia 1 II and it already went official in several markets. Today, the company’s 2020 flagship passed by the GeekBench benchmark with 12GB of RAM. So far we’ve seen the 8GB RAM variant, the new version with extra RAM will give users extra multi-tasking capabilities, but in the end, the performance gains are just incremental. The new variant is about to go official in International markets.
The Xperia 1 II with 12GB of RAM scores 908 points in the single-core and 3,387 in the multi-core department. The 8GB of RAM, for instance, scored 895 points in the single-core tests and over 3,225 in the multi-core department. The new variant will go official in several markets the next Friday, October 30 with a $1,170 price tag.

Sony is focusing in the camera performance here rather than offering a traditional smartphone. However, it still has the guts to be a flagship phone. under the hood, we have a Snapdragon 865 Octa-Core chipset paired with the excellent Adreno 650 GPU. The device has two possible configurations with 8GB and 12GB of RAM. It has 256GB of Internal Storage and you can expand it via a microSD card. The phone flaunts a 6.5-inch 4K OLED HDR display with 3,840 x 1,644 pixels. Sony is the only company in the smartphone market betting on this resolution. The panel also has 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, Motion Blur Reduction and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection.

In the camera department, we have a 12MP main sensor with Exmor RS sensor, f/1.7 aperture, Hybrid OIS/EIS. In addition, we have another 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with 135-degrees and f/2.2 aperture. Last but not least, users get a third 12MP telephoto sensor with f/2.4 aperture, Hybrid OIS/EIS, 3x optical zoom, and super low motion. On the front, we have an 8MP selfie snapper with a 1/4″ Exmor RS sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 1.12um pixel size, and 84º FOV.
The Sony Xperia 1 II comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and Stereo Speakers with Dolby Atmos support. Moreover, we have water and dust resistance thanks to the IP68 rating. The device comes with 5G (sub-6GHz) network support, 4G VoLTE, and Wi-Fi 802.11 AC. Other features include Bluetooth 5.1, GPS / GLONASS, NFC, USB 3.1 Type-C. It draws power from a 4,000mAh battery with 21W USB-PD fast charging and Qi Wireless Charging support.
