Sony PS5 pre-orders in the first 12 hours in the US are almost the same as PS4’s in the first 12 weeks

According to Reuters, SIE President Jim Ryan revealed this week that Sony PS5 pre-orders in the United States are performing well. The pre-order quantity is roughly equal. However, Jim Ryan did not disclose the specific number of pre-orders. According to him, the PlayStation 5 console pre-orders in the first 12 hours is the same as the first 12 weeks of the PlayStation 4 in the US. For reference, 4 months before the official launch of PS4 (July 2013), the global pre-orders of PS4 exceeded 1 million units. In addition, PS4 sold more than 1 million units within 24 hours after it was officially launched in the United States.

According to Jim, because the demand exceeds expectations, there is no guarantee for those who wants to buy the PS5 on launch day. Sony is doing its best in the holiday shopping season to make the PS5 available. Jim Ryan said

“The demand as expressed by the level of pre-order has been very, very considerable…It may well be that not everybody who wants to buy a PS5 on launch day will be able to find one…we are working as hard as we ever can”.

From the pre-order data, if you need this console, you better partake in the pre-orders. Obviously, this device will sell out almost instantly on launch day.

The PlayStation 5 will launch on November 12 in the US, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. However, this console will be available for the rest of the world on November 19. The PlayStation 5 arrive with a $499.99 / ¥49,980 / €499.99 / £449.99 price tag. However, the cheaper digital version will sell for $399.99 / ¥39,980 / €399.99 / £359.99.
