The company has been revamping its strategy since the last year with the release of competitive devices with more affordable price tags. If you recall, a couple of years ago, Vivo was a premium smartphone brand. Now, it has devices in all the market segments. Back in the last year, Vivo introduced the Vivo Y91i as a solid budget offering for the Indian customer. Today, all of sudden, the brand decided to slash the price of the handset. Vivo Y91i Specifications
The Vivo Y91i flaunts a 6.22-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1,520 x 720 pixels. This panel has a 2.5D glass effect and a waterdrop notch at the top serving as a house for the 5MP selfie snapper. Under the hood, we have MediaTek’s Helio P22 Octa-Core with 8 x Cortex-A53 cores and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The processing paired with 2GB of RAM (there is a 3GB version available as well, but the price isn’t the same). Other features include a 4,030mAh battery which lacks fast-charging support, FM Radio, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi (2.4GHz), and 4G LTE. Unfortunately, the phone does not bring a fingerprint scanner. But you still have the less-secure face unlock feature. On the software front, we have the biggest drawback if you’re looking for a new device in 2020. It has Funtouch OS based on Android 8.1 Oreo. We’re talking about the 2017’s Android release. We don’t think that there is any update coming soon for this device. We believe that there are better options in India shipping with updated software.
