Apple released the official version of iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 early this morning. iOS 14.2 adds more than 100 emojis, and eight wallpapers. This update also brings other new improvements and bug fixes for the iPhone. All eligible devices will get this update via OTA in “Settings”. To access the new software, go to “Settings”> “General”> “Software Update”.

Apple iOS 14.2 includes the following improvements for the iPhone:
- More than 100 new emojis, including animals, food, emoticons, household items, musical instruments, neutral emojis, etc.
- Eight new wallpapers, both light, and dark versions are available
- “Amplifier” can detect nearby people and report their distance using the lidar sensor. This is possible with the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max
- MagSafe leather case for iPhone 12
- AirPods’ optimized battery charging slows down the battery aging rate by reducing the time it takes AirPods to fully charge
- Audio volume may affect your hearing. Send earphone audio volume notification to remind you
- New “airplay” control to stream entertainment media throughout the home
- Can use “broadcast” through iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and CarPlay with HomePod and HomePod mini
- HomePod can be connected to Apple TV 4K to listen to stereo, surround sound, and Dolby Atmos audio
This update also fixes the following issues:
- Apps in the Dock on the main screen may be sorted out of order
- The camera viewfinder may appear black when active
- The keyboard in the locked screen may miss input when you try to enter the password
- “Reminders” may use the past time by default
- The “Photo” widget may not display content
- The “weather” widget may display the highest temperature in Celsius when set to Fahrenheit
- The next-hour precipitation probability graph in “Weather” describes the time when precipitation may stop incorrectly
- Incoming call interrupts “Voice Memo” recording
- The screen may turn black during Netflix video playback
- The Apple Watch app may close unexpectedly
- Some users’ “fitness training” GPS routes or “health” data cannot synchronize between Apple Watch and iPhone
- Audio is incorrectly marked as “not playing” on the CarPlay dashboard
- The device may not be able to charge wirelessly
- “Exposure notification” is disabled after restoring iPhone from iCloud backup or transferring data to new iPhone via iPhone migration
