The market of wearables broke records in 2020 despite the ongoing pandemic. For that reason, companies are investing more than ever in this particular segment. While there are a lot of newcomers like Realme, other established brands like Huami are working hard with new launches to keep its user base in the segment. Back in September, Huami introduced another smart wearables brand, out of its Amazfit spectrum, dubbed Zepp. The new brand debuted with two mid-range smartwatches – Zepp E Square and Zepp E Circle. Yeah, the names are pretty… descriptive. Today, the company is unveiling a new smartwatch dubbed Zepp Z. As you might expect the Z stands for a new line of premium wearables.
Zepp Z specs and features
The new Zepp Z Smartwatch comes with a 46.3mm unibody titanium alloy case. It features an NTC nanotech coating that ensures a good level of scratch resistance. The wearable flaunts a 1.39-inch vivid AMOLED display that covers 100% of the NTSC color gamut and offers a peak brightness of 550 nits. The circular dial is flanked by two buttons and a classic crown on the right edge. It allows you to control all the smart features of this wearable, which certainly is a nice way to interact with the watch.
As usual, the wearable brings a set of sports tracking modes and health features. To power these health features we have a BioTracker 2 PPG sensor, a geomagnetic sensor, a gyroscope, an air pressure sensor among other sensors. The wearable brings blood oxygen level tracking, stress level monitoring, and sleep tracking along with 12 sports modes. Moreover, it can monitor your hard 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
Gizchina News of the week
The new wearable is paired with GPS and GLONASS for smart positioning. This certainly is a feature that makes the Zepp Z stand as a premium offer. There is a multitude of watches in the market, but just a few of them come with integrated GPS. The ones with the positioning system aren’t so smartphone-dependent as the ones that come with GPS and GLONASS. Apart from this nice add-on, the wearable also has water-resistance up to 5ATM. It draws power from a 340mAh battery that promises up to 15 days on a single charge. Just like its siblings Amazfit GTS 2 and GTR 2, the Zepp Z comes with Amazon Alexa support.
The system is a custom-based one, not a big surprise, after all, anything running WearOS can have this battery life. It comes with 50 digital watch faces, we’re not sure if Zepp will support custom watch faces, but it certainly will as Amazfit does.
Pricing & Availability
The Zepp Z costs $349 and is available for purchase in the US on the Zepp Website. For now, it comes in a single color variant with a titanium case and brown leather strap. We’re yet to hear about international availability.
