Snapchat’s stories format is contagious and it has now infected Spotify!

Spotify Stories

Back in 2017, Snapchat brought a key feature to its social media platform dubbed Stories. The idea behind the Story was that it will disappear after 24 hours on its own. While at first, the feature was quite okayish, it soon became annoying as more and more apps started adopting it. You can now see those little story circles on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Twitter. For those who’re unaware, Twitter recently rolled out its own version of stories called Fleets. Well, Spotify might also join the roster as the company is now testing a new Story format feature.

Spotify is experimenting with a new Stories feature!

Throughout this week, various Spotify users have started noticing the story-like circles on some popular Spotify playlists. To even point towards the story, Spotify has added a small message pop-up that reads “Tap to see the story”. When tapped on it, you will be taken to the Story feature similar to what we’ve seen with social media apps. It looks like the Story feature contains messages from various artists from the playlists. Spotify has even confirmed to Engadget that it is currently testing a new Stories feature that will showcase on some curated playlists.

Gizchina News of the week

This is not the first time Spotify has been seen experimenting with the Story feature. Last year, the Swedish-based audio streaming company tested a Storyline feature that allowed artists to share behind the scenes with the fans. Earlier this year, Spotify started implementing something like this and let some influencers share stories with their public playlists. As mentioned earlier, the company is currently testing the latest Stories feature making it limited to few users only. Whether Spotify will expand the feature to more users or it will scrap this one altogether, the outcome still remains to be seen.

Considering the fact that Spotify has been testing iteration of stories since last year, it looks like this time the feature might actually make its way to the stable release. Apart from just playlists, the company might also expand the feature to more aspects of its service soon. With that said, we will make sure to keep our readers updated whenever the stable rollout kickstart. Do let us know what you think about this new experimental feature by hopping down into the comments down below.
