HMD Global, apparently, was greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re not talking about smartphone sales, as the company seems to be still fine, but we’re talking about its schedule. The company planned several smartphones for the first half of 2021 but had to postpone them due to the pandemic. Moreover, the so-called Nokia 9.3 PureView seems to have been delayed to the next year. The company released just a few smartphones this year but managed to expand its business to other segments. Well, although 2020 is almost closing curtains, there still a couple of days before the end of the year. Apparently, there still room for one more Nokia smartphone before the end of the year, the Nokia 5.4.
The new smartphone has been stealing the headlines lately with extensive leaks revealing design, colors, and possible specifications. Now, a new report from Nokiamob.net states that the price of the Nokia 5.2 has been revealed by some Australian retailers. According to the report, Nokia’s retailers such as Acquire, Aus Shop IT listed the handset in Blue and Purple colors. The listing lack any renders, however, the colors are on par with previous info. Moreover, the Aus Shop IT lists the device with 4GB of RAM and 128GB. The Purple color has a price of AUD 349 ($257). Acquire has the same variant for a price of AUD371($273).
Gizchina News of the week
The device is more expensive than its predecessor. The Nokia 5.3 reached the market with EUR 189($225) price tag in Europe and INR 13,999 in India. Of course, the listing can just be a placeholder as Nokia is yet to confirm the official launch. Whether the device proves to be more expensive than its predecessor, this is understandable, after all, it brings consistent improvements.
Nokia 5.4 alleged specs
According to reports, the Nokia 5.4 will sport a 6.39-inch display which is down from the 6.55-inch of its predecessor. The display resolution should be HD+, although we’re used to FHD+ smartphones in this price range. Under the hood, the phone will feature a processor that is faster than Snapdragon 665 SoC. We wouldn’t be surprised to see the Snapdragon 662 here. Although it sounds like a downgrade, reports indicate that the newer chipset brings slight improvements over the SD655. The device will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.
Other features include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB-C port. We expect Android 10 to be running atop, although we can’t discard Android 11 since this is an Android One phone.
Reports suggest that this won’t be the single Nokia phone released in December. The Nokia 7.3 5G will likely come alongside.
