Today, we saw a couple of Indian variants of Xiaomi devices on Google Supported Devices List. Started with the Redmi Note 9 4G (Redmi 9 Power), to Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G (Mi 10i), and now POCO M3. The device comes with model number M2010J19CI. Even though this gives us a huge hint to be prepared for the POCO M3’s launch in India, the real hype behind the POCO M3 was its price. So let’s see at what price POCO is able to launch the POCO M3 in India.
Specifications
POCO M3 comes with decent specifications for a budget-oriented smartphone. It sports a 6.53-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The device doesn’t have a higher refresh rate. Although, the front display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. From images, the device sports a very high screen to body ratio. Unfortunately, there is a teardrop notch instead of a punch hole.
Gizchina News of the week
Moving to the camera, the smartphone comes with a triple rear camera setup. The setup is led by a 48-megapixel primary, 2-megapixel depth, and 2-megapixel macro sensors. No ultrawide sensor, unfortunately. The camera on the POCO M3 supports 1080p@30fps video recording. On the front side, you will get an 8-megapixel selfie cam.
Snapdragon 662 is powering the POCO M3. It is based on the 11nm process and comes with Adreno 610 GPU. The phone has two variants. One comes with 64GB UFS 2.1 storage whereas the other has 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. Both of them have 4GB RAM. The phone has a 6000mAH battery with 18W fast charging support. You will get dual speakers and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
POCO M3 VS Redmi 9 Power – What will be the strategy?
Earlier today, I wrote on the Redmi Note 9 4G coming to India as Redmi 9 Power. If you compare the Redmi Note 9 Power and the POCO M3, they are very similar in hardware. Both of them have a Snapdragon 662, a 48-megapixel camera, and a 6,000mAH battery. I think POCO M3, due to less RAM and lack of ultra-wide sensor will be priced below the Redmi 9 Power. However, time will tell on how the company plans to distinguish both the phones in India.
