Apple is doing as much as it can to contribute to the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. In its latest show of concern, the company officially announced that all Apple PRODUCT (RED) will be donated to the Global COVID‑19 relief Fund. This announcement is in partnership with (RED). Apple will now redirect 100% of eligible proceeds of its PRODUCT(RED) devices. The donation will be active from now until June 30, 2021.
Normally, all proceeds from Apple PRODUCT(RED) lineup go for fighting HIV/AIDS. However, the company will now temporarily redirect these funds to help fight COVID-19. Of course, this is temporary and the HIV/AIDS program is still very much alive. This information first appeared on its Japanese official website. However, Apple’s U.S. website and some of its other official websites are getting the same update.
Gizchina News of the week
Recall that back in April, Apple and (RED) had to give a portion of eligible proceeds for COVID-19 relief. However, from today, COVID-19 relief will receive 100% through June 30, 2021. Here’s the announcement that notes providing pandemic relief will help keep “lifesaving HIV/AIDS programs” going in Africa.
For 14 years, our partnership with (RED) has led to almost $250 million in donations to fund HIV/AIDS treatment programs. Now through June 30, Apple is working with (RED) to redirect 100 percent of eligible proceeds from (PRODUCT)RED purchases to the Global Fund’s COVID‑19 Response. This will provide critical support to health systems most threatened by the outbreak and, in turn, help preserve lifesaving HIV/AIDS programs in sub-Saharan Africa.
Apple has a couple of PRODUCT(RED) devices and accessories. This lineup includes the recently released iPhone 12 and the rest of the current iPhone lineup. It also includes Apple Watch, bands, iPad cases, Beats headphones, and more.
