Apple recently confirmed to developers that in-app purchases now support the “family sharing” function. The company said that developers can now enable “family sharing” for auto-renewable subscriptions and non-consumable in-app purchases. This allows users to share purchases with up to five other family members. This confirmation is coming days after the initial report first hit the web.
According to Apple, “family sharing” provides users with a simpler experience. It also helps developers to attract subscribers and encourage more users to subscribe to paid content. This ultimately increases user engagement and improve retention.
Apple will soon update the “Sales and Trends” report to help developers understand the performance of family subscriptions. According to yesterday’s test, in the App Store’s “Subscriptions” settings, the “Share new subscriptions” setting has been automatically turned on, allowing family members to automatically share eligible subscriptions. Previously, if a family member purchased an app that included subscriptions, there was no built-in way to share these subscription features with other family members.

Apple iPhone and iPad users who share apps with their families through Apple’s “family sharing” feature can now also share subscription apps. In the “subscriptions” setting of the Apple App Store, the “Share new subscriptions” setting has been automatically turned on, allowing family members to automatically share eligible subscriptions. This option is available in the current iOS 14.2 version.

Prior to this, if a family member purchased an app that included subscriptions, there was no built-in way to share these subscription features with other family members.
Amazon and Apple abandon Intel chips – a significant shift in the PC market
The manufacturing industry is highly competitive and no company can stay on top for long. Intel has been the leading chip provider for laptops for so many years. However, the situation is changing swiftly. Amazon and Apple are currently reducing their dependence on Intel chip technology. For a long time, Intel’s chip technology has dominated most personal computers and large server systems. After abandoning Intel chips, Apple and Amazon began to use more self-developed chips.
Last month, Apple released its latest MacBooks. These devices use Apple’s latest ARM-based M1 chip. In June of this year, Amazon’s cloud computing business also began to promote new computing services. The service also uses ARM-based chips developed by Amazon itself. Amazon told customers that the service is faster than products based on Intel chips. The price is one-fifth cheaper than the latter.
