Asus has so far launched three gaming devices under its ROG phones simply named ROG Phone, ROG Phone 2, and ROG Phone 3. Well, it looks like the company is now working on the next iteration of its gaming phone. A new Asus ROG Phone has now made its way to two of the benchmarking leaders. Yes! we’re talking about the GeekBench and HTML5. Well, here’s what the upcoming ROG Phone 4 or ROG Phone 5 will come packed with.
Asus ROG Phone 5 appears on GeekBench and HTML5
A new Asus ROG Phone has now surfaced on GeekBench listing with the model number ASUS_I005DA. As per the listing, the smartphone will come with a motherboard dubbed Lahaina which refers to Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. Fun fact! the motherboard is named after an island in Hawaii.
The flagship Snapdragon 888 chipset is paired with 8GB RAM and the device runs on the Android 11 operating system. Coming to the scores, the device managed to score 1081 points in single-core performance. The multi-core benchmark test churned out 3584 scores for the device.

The next iteration of the gaming smartphone has also made its way to HTML5 benchmarking tests. The device carries the model number ASUS_I005DB as well here. The smartphone manages to score 469 points out of the 555 points. Of course, there are no hardware specs as a part of the HTML5 benchmark.
There is one more key thing that the model number of the device reveals to us. The current-gen ROG Phone 3 had the model number ASUS_I003DA. If that’s the case, then the new gaming device might come with the ROG Phone 5 moniker. That makes sense considering number 4 is something most Chinese companies try to avoid.
Launch might happen early!
This is the first time the next ROG Phone 5 is making its way to the GeekBench listing. This means that we might see more benchmark tests over the next couple of months. While it is too early to comment on the launch timeline, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Asus decides to launch its ROG Phone 5 early. Well, Samsung is already launching its flagship one month early and OnePlus is also considering the same.
With that said, we should be getting some more concrete information in the coming months. We’ll of course make sure to keep our readers updated.
