Samsung seems to be focussing a lot on the things that it didn’t use to care about a couple of years ago. Since the One UI, the chaebol focussing a lot on the software experience and support. The other thing that is currently on the radar of the brand is its SmartThings service. While the history of the service dates back to 2012, it is still struggling in numerous aspects.
Thanks to the extra attention, the future of SmartThings seems to be on the right track. Samsung recently added the SmartThings Find feature to its ecosystem and it is reportedly working on a new Galaxy Smart Tag as well. To top things off, the smartphone maker has now announced a major update to the service. Starting from next month, SmartThings will support Google Nest integration.
Samsung SmartThings to now support Google Nest devices!
The new partnership between Samsung and Google will allow the Galaxy users to control their Google Nest devices through the SmartThings service. The integration will go live somewhere in the month of January 2021. Various Google Nest devices such as cameras, thermostats, doorbells will now have a WWST certificate. The WSST here means Works With SmartThings.

With the availability of Google Nest integration, SmartThings as a service will become more inclusive and better. The service has already been a major part of the Galaxy smartphone experience. The ability to directly access various linked services from the notification menu and use them in Bixby Routines would be a good plus with the new integration.
Samsung aims to create a one simple home solution through its SmartThings service. The idea here is to create a universal system where all smart home devices can work cohesively together. SmartThings already supports various popular brands such as Bose, Ring, Arlo, Dacor, Ecobee, LIFX, Sonos, and more.
Apart from this, SmartThings also comes with its own services such as SmartThings Air, Energy, Find, and more.
Samsung previously collaborated with Mercedes-Benz
The South Korean giant collaborated with Mercedes-Benz last month. Thanks to this partnership, the 2021 S-Class Mercedes-Benz will support SmartThing out of the factory. Through this integration, Galaxy users will able to do various things remotely such as unlocking the door or kickstarting the heating system on your drive home. This integration is even has a specific name i.e. car-to-home experiences.
