Honor V40 flagships spotted in the largest Chinese online store

Honor V40

Honor V40 smartphones will be the first models of the company after independence. With this in mind, Huawei’s general poor state of affairs and the traditionally tempting combination of features and prices of the Honor V models, the Honor V40 has received a lot of attention. Much is expected from these models. The imminent announcement is indicated by the inclusion of the entire line in the catalog of the largest Chinese online store JD.com.

Now we know for sure that there will be three models in the series – Honor V40, Honor V40 Pro and Honor V40 Pro+. Alas, the specifications are not disclosed. Nevertheless, something is already known about them. So, the devices will support fast charging with a power of 66 W, and will also receive displays curved on the sides. There is still no exact data regarding the SoCs used. Some sources talk about the use of Kirin SoC, others about MediaTek SoC. It is possible that both are right. Different models will have platforms from different manufacturers.

Honor V40 series to use four flagship chips from different manufacturers

As of now, there is not much information regarding the Honor V40 series. However, if the recent leak is true, then the company is preparing something interesting. According to a leak on Weibo, the Honor V40 series will have four models. The interesting part of the leak is that all four models will use different flagship processors from different manufacturers. This will be the first time that a single series will use as many as four different flagship chips from different manufacturers.

Gizchina News of the week

According to the leak, the Honor V40 will come with a Dimensity 1000+ SoC. In addition, there will be an Honor V40 Pro which will use Samsung’s  Exynos 1080. Furthermore, the Honor V40 Pro+ will use Snapdragon 888 while the Honor V40 Commemorative Edition will come with Huawei’s Kirin 9000.

The leak is also a poll thus we are not entirely certain how the poster got a hold of the information. As of now, we can not verify this information thus we employ you to take it with a pinch of salt. Furthermore, there is no confirmation that the U.S. will allow Honor to use American technology. Thus, we can not guarantee that Honor can use Dimensity, Exynos, and Snapdragon chips. In addition, the Kirin 9000 SoC is barely enough for the Huawei Mate 40 series and other planned flagship. It is most unlikely that Huawei will have some units to sell to Honor for its V40 series. All these are just some questions that beg for answers.

Honor and Qualcomm are in talks for a cooperation

Just last month, Huawei announced the sale of its Honor smartphone division to a consortium based in Shenzhen, China. Rumors soon surfaced that the independent company would launch a flagship phone based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. Now, more information has emerged on the topic of future cooperation.

A source close to Qualcomm indicated that Honor and the US chipmaker were already in talks to ship chipsets for upcoming Honor phones. Honor is rather optimistic about the potential results of this collaboration; at the moment both sides are close to reaching an agreement.

Honor CEO Zhao Ming has openly stated that Honor aims to become the leading smartphone brand in China’s smartphone market. This was reportedly announced during a staff meeting. A week after the announcement of the sale, Zhao Ming mentioned that Honor would start releasing other products besides smartphones.

Earlier, the President of Qualcomm said publicly that the company has already started a dialogue with Honor; and looks forward to working with the new company in various areas. Recall that after the introduction of US sanctions against Huawei, the Chinese company lost the opportunity to use Google services and Qualcomm products.
