Not so long ago, Xiaomi announced the release of an “intermediate” version of its user interface – MIUI 12.5 before the launch of the fundamentally new MIUI 13. Now the release dates from the official source have become known.
Jin Fan, the head of the software department spoke about the timing. The top manager said that the release of MIUI 12.5 is scheduled for the near future and should take place before the end of December.
In MIUI 12.5, interface changes are expected, including the start page, the interface when pressing the power button, volume control, open applications and notifications, improved launcher animation for opening folders and launching applications, full desktop mode, approximate user location for greater security, the function of quickly converting photos to PDF directly in the Gallery, a new interface for camera settings, and so on.
For some smartphones, Xiaomi will release MIUI 12.5 alongside Android 11, but many will remain on the previous version of Android.
Xiaomi MIUI 13 is coming soon but not before MIUI 12.5
Xiaomi has been quite consistent with its desire to release the latest update for its devices. As of now, many eligible Xiaomi devices already have the MIUI 12 update. In fact, many of its smartphones are currently getting the MIUI 12 on top of Android 11 update. According to a recent report, before MIUI 13 officially arrives next year, MIUI will have a major version update. The Xiaomi community yesterday released the MIUI development version internal beta update instructions – 12.8.
According to the company, there will be a final MIUI 12.5 version before the arrival of MIUI 13. The company asks Xiaomi fans to always believe that something beautiful is about to happen. However, there will be a suspension of this update for a couple of models. Reports claim that due to project engineering needs, Redmi 10X, Redmi 10X Pro, Redmi K30 Extreme Commemorative Edition will be postponed until December 18th.

First leak video of MIUI 13 appears online
Despite the fact that not all Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones have received MIUI 12 firmware, the company is already working hard on MIUI 13.
