Realme recently shared its plans to use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 888 chip. According to the company, Realme Race will be the first smartphone on this chip, and its release is scheduled for early 2021.
Xu Qi, vice president and president of Realme China, has already stated that Realme Race will also have an “attractive design”. And today the CEO of Realme revealed that Realme Race will also be the start of a new line of the company.
Xu Qi clarified that Race is just a codename for the device; and the line will bear a completely new commercial name.
Many believe that Realme Race could enter the market as part of the “Ace” series. According to rumors, the parent company of Realme – Oppo – just gave its sub-brand the Ace line; the last smartphone in the series was Ace 2.
Unfortunately, Xu Qi did not specify a specific timeline for the release of the new smartphone. Realme Race is rumored to be released before February 15th. One way or another, many insiders agree that they will not have to wait longer than the first quarter of 2021.
At the beginning of the month, we has a look already at the renders of Realme Race. The smartphone should have a glass back with curved edges; and a round camera module with an extended LED flash unit. Also today, another render of an unknown smartphone from Realme appeared on the Web; which may possibly belong to that very new line.
In addition to the Snapdragon 888, Realme Race will be equipped with 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage; and the firmware will be Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11.
