After immense success in the flagship segment, OnePlus has now slowly started moving to the wearable segment as well. The Chinese smartphone maker has already launched two TWS audio namely OnePlus Buds Z and OnePlus Buds. The former targets those who are tight on the budget while the latter is the company’s high-end TWS offering. Apart from the TWS earbuds, OnePlus seems to be working on its first smartwatch as well. This is not the firt time we’ve been hearing about OnePlus Watch.
In fact, we’ve been hearing about the company’s wearable for a while now. Back in August, OnePlus was preparing for the launch of OnePlus Watch. A couple of months after, a report claimed that the company has postponed the launch due to some difficulties with the software. Well, we now have the official information from the company’s CEO himself regarding the OnePlus Watch wearable.

— Pete Lau (@PeteLau) December 22, 2020
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau recently posted an update on his official Twitter channel. This new tweet comes as the follow up to the previous post where Lau asked ‘Is there something you want to see that we haven’t done yet?’. Well, the follow up post talks about the OnePlus Watch and the availability. According to the Lau, the company’s first smartwatch will see its official unveiling early next year. Sadly, there is still no concrete launch date.
The Chinese brand seems to be working on its wearable for quite some time nowa. In fact, the very first sketch of the wearable surfaced on the web back in 2015. With that said, it looks like 2021 is going to be the year when OnePlus will launch its smartwatch finally. To recall, OnePlus Watch is expected to arrive with a round dial similar to other wearables in the market such as Vivo Watch. It should run on a Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform. The company appears to be working on the software part of the wearable and it would be interesting to see what it has to offer.
OnePlus might announce the wearable along with its next-gen flagship smartphone. We are also expecting to see some improved TWS offering from the brand. With that said, we’re hoping to receive more information in the coming months and whenever that will happen, we’ll make sure to keep you updated.
