A couple of weeks ago, Sony revealed its Android 11 update plans that will cover its recent flagships and some of its mid-range smartphones. After some weeks of waiting, the owners of the Sony Xperia 1 II are being contemplated with the long-waited Android 11 update. Although Sony isn’t the most appealing smartphone brand nowadays, we have to agree that it is taking the lead in Android 11 deployment as many companies are yet to unveil Android 11 updates for its flagships. Apart from the Android 11 goodies, the update also adds November 2020 security patch. Apparently, the build is under testing since the last month. That explains why it comes with a November security patch rather than the latest one available.
The new firmware bears build number 58.1.A.0.921 and are reaching global markets via the OTA channel. As usual, it may take a couple of days and possibly weeks to reach all parts of the world. Only the Sony Xperia 1 II (Mark 2) is eligible for the update right now. However, other devices inside of the Android 11 roadmap will follow suit in the next weeks. Worth noting that this release also comes with bug fixes as well as stability and performance improvements.
Gizchina News of the week
Unfortunately, the changelog in this update is rather vague. It does not bring much information regarding the improvements made with this update. It only mentions the November 2020 security patch and the usual set of underhood improvements. Of course, users can expect all the goodies introduced with Android 11 like a revamped Notification System, More per-app permissions controls, new placement for media notifications. Android 11 also adds Notification Categories, Notifications History, Chat Bubble Notifications, and a Native Screen Recording feature.
