Redmi Note 9T 5G visits GeekBench with Dimensity 800U SoC

Redmi Note 9T

Back in the end of the last month, Xiaomi unveiled its Redmi Note 9 series in China. However, these devices hadn’t anything in common with those released in global markets and India earlier this year. In China, the company unveiled the Redmi Note 9 5G, Note 9 pro 5G, and a Redmi Note 9 4G variant. All devices were new and not based on any previous model. We knew that Xiaomi would eventually launch these devices in global markets. We thought that they would come as Redmi Note 10 devices, but that isn’t the case.  The three devices are slowly escaping China. The first one was the Redmi Note 9 4G that debuted in India this month as Redmi 9 Power. The second device will be the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G that is set to debut in some markets as Mi 10i. Now, a new report suggests that Redmi will also bring the Redmi Note 9 5G overseas with the Redmi Note 9T moniker.

Redmi Note 9 5G will leave China as Redmi Note 9T 5G

Today, the Redmi Note 9T appeared on the Geekbench benchmark with MediaTek’s Dimensity 800U chipset. That’s the very same chipset found in China’s Note 9 5G and strengthens the possibility of a rebranding to Note 9T in global markets. The device appeared with model number M2007J22G in several places such as Thailand’s NBTC and Malaysia’s SIRIM certification. NBTC revealed that the device’s marketing name is Redmi Note 9T 5G. The new details were exposed by the tipster Abhishek Yadav.

Gizchina News of the week

According to the Geekbench benchmark, the device has an ARM MT6853T processor – Dimensity 800U – paired with 4GB of RAM. Worth noting that a 4G variant does not exist in China, with only 6GB and 8GB RAM variants with up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Perhaps, the company wants to introduce a variant with a cheaper price tag in global markets. GeekBench also suggests that the device will hit the market with Android 10. Well, that’s not a big surprise since the original Note9 5G came with Android 10. But having Android 11 certainly wouldn’t hurt in a newer handset.

The device scores 598 in single-core tests and 1,760 points in the multi-core department.

Redmi Note 9T Alleged Specifications

Considering the specifications of the Note 9 5G, we expect the Redmi Note 9 5G to come with a 6.53-inch IPS LCD with FHD+ resolution and a top-left aligned punch-hole. Moving around to the back, we have a circular camera layout, which is a first for Redmi Note phones. The Triple-camera array has a 48MP primary, 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP snapper.

The device draws power from a 5,000mAh battery with up to 22.5 fast-charging. Hopefully, the device will be one of the cheapest 5G smartphones in the international markets.
