Back in the end of the last month, Xiaomi unveiled its Redmi Note 9 series in China. However, these devices hadn’t anything in common with those released in global markets and India earlier this year. In China, the company unveiled the Redmi Note 9 5G, Note 9 pro 5G, and a Redmi Note 9 4G variant. All devices were new and not based on any previous model. We knew that Xiaomi would eventually launch these devices in global markets. We thought that they would come as Redmi Note 10 devices, but that isn’t the case. The three devices are slowly escaping China. The first one was the Redmi Note 9 4G that debuted in India this month as Redmi 9 Power. The second device will be the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G that is set to debut in some markets as Mi 10i. Now, a new report suggests that Redmi will also bring the Redmi Note 9 5G overseas with the Redmi Note 9T moniker.
Redmi Note 9 5G will leave China as Redmi Note 9T 5G
Today, the Redmi Note 9T appeared on the Geekbench benchmark with MediaTek’s Dimensity 800U chipset. That’s the very same chipset found in China’s Note 9 5G and strengthens the possibility of a rebranding to Note 9T in global markets. The device appeared with model number M2007J22G in several places such as Thailand’s NBTC and Malaysia’s SIRIM certification. NBTC revealed that the device’s marketing name is Redmi Note 9T 5G. The new details were exposed by the tipster Abhishek Yadav.
