Back on December 28, Xiaomi unveiled the Mi 11 as its first 2021 flagship. The device has a lot of interesting features like improved cameras, gorgeous display and it’s effectively the first device to reach the market with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. On January 1, 2021 (Happy New Year!) Xiaomi has opened the sales of its flagship in China. The device went on sale at 0:00 local time and according to the company’s official data, 350,000 units were sold exceeding 1.5 billion Yuan in just 5 minutes (roughly $229K).
The number of devices sold was revealed by Zeng Xuezhong, Vice President of Xiaomi Group and President of the mobile phone department. He confirmed the impressive milestone of 350,000 units in just 5 minutes. That’s an impressive milestone, but that’s not a big surprise if you’ve been following Xiaomi for quite some years. Especially due to the fact, that the Mi 11 has a huge appeal as the first Snapdragon 888-powered smartphone and as the first flagship of 2021. The Mi 11 is quite lightweight with just 196 grams and is only 8.06 thick. It has delicate frosted glass and a brand new camera design language. The Xiaomi Mi 11 is the first smartphone to carry the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. In comparison to its predecessor, the overall CPU performance is 25% higher and the power consumption is reduced by 25%. GPU performance is also improved by 35%. According to Qualcomm, this SoC has the best ever Adreno GPU.
In the camera department, the device has a 108MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5MP telephoto macro lens. In the punch-hole cutout, it has a 20MP camera with wide-angle and group photo mode. The Mi 11 draws power from a 4,600mAh battery with support for 55W wired fast charging. The device also supports 50W wireless fast charging and 10W reverse charging. It makes use of X-axis linear motors and Harman Kardon tuning dual speakers. The device supports a multi-function NFC and infrared remote control.
