The Google Pixel 4a 5G is a mid-range 5G smartphone designed and manufactured by Google. But this is one of those handsets that brings too many headaches to its owners because of a number of bugs.
As many media have been reporting recently, there are many users who say that the touchscreen of the Google Pixel 4a 5G has problems and doesn’t respond to clicks. The report pointed out that the Google Pixel 4a 5G touchscreen problem mainly occurs at the bottom of the screen. When using the system navigation keys, the system does not respond to the return button when clicked. It takes many consecutive times for the system to sense it.

As shown in the animation above, the Google Pixel 4a 5G system did not respond when you clicked to return. This problem was particularly obvious after Google pushed the security patch in December. It is worth noting that the Google Pixel 4a 5G still did not solve this problem after the January update. And the touch problem will be more easily triggered after the film is applied. To make matters worse, some users still encounter this problem after changing phones.
Google acknowledged this bug and said it will update and fix it. So there is a recommendation for users to temporarily replace the navigation buttons with gestures. This problem will be fixed in the February update as soon as possible.
How To Fix Google Pixel 4a Click Response Bug
In the meantime, Google advises users to work around the issue with some specific instructions on tapping navigation controls:
- When tapping icons on the edge of the screen, tap the center of the button or the side of the button/icon furthest away from the edge of the display.
- When tapping icons, including the navigation buttons on the bottom of your screen, use the tip of your finger or thumb instead. This will help improve touch recognition.
