Microsoft cancels the Xbox Live Gold price increase

Update: Microsoft has updated its announcement of planned Xbox Live Gold price hikes, saying it had listened to customer feedback and, as a result, had decided against raising prices. In addition, the company said that “in the coming months,” it will no longer require a Gold subscription for free-to-play games.

Microsoft has announced a thing that many Xbox gamers won’t like. Prices for the Xbox Live Gold subscription have significantly increased.

The price increase was reported by the representative office of Xbox. The company explains that in many markets the price of Xbox Live Gold has not changed in years, and in some regions, it has not changed for more than 10 years.

For existing Xbox Live Gold subscribers for 6 or 12 months, the price will not change yet. And when such a user decides to renew the subscription, it will be renewed at the current price.

The price of the Xbox Live Gold subscription for 1 month will increase by $1 and for 3 months by $5 – now they will cost $11 and $ 30, respectively. Most of all, the rise in price will affect users who now decide to buy a subscription for 6 months – it will cost $60, against the previous $40. At the same time, Microsoft is canceling the 12-month subscription. However, it can still be found for the same $60 on Amazon and some other retailers.
