Samsung revolutionized its smartphone business with the arrival of the Galaxy A and M-series. Through these two lineups, everything goes smoother than in the days of the Galaxy Young, Prime, J, and all other confusing lines. The Galaxy A series is usually made of mid-range phones and premium mid-range phones. The Galaxy M-series also has devices classified as mid-range but is more a home for Samsung’s low-end handsets. Recently, the company unveiled a super affordable device dubbed Galaxy M02s. Its specifications were far from impressive, but acceptable for the price. Now, the company will unveil a “non-S” version dubbed Galaxy M02 and it will be even more affordable.
Samsung will take the wraps off the Galaxy M02 on February 2. The new model will be released in India with an INR 7,000 price tag. It will be sold through Amazon. The e-commerce platform already revealed the landing page with key details.
Galaxy M02 alleged specifications
The new Galaxy M02 will pack a notched Infinity-V display. It has 6.5-inch and an HD+ resolution. Due to the cheap characteristic of this handset isn’t hard to know that it uses LCD technology. The phone will draw its power from a 5,000mAh battery which puts it very close to the M02s in terms of specifications.
Gizchina News of the week
Apparently, we’re in for another of Samsung rebrandings. The Galaxy M02 might be just a rebranded Galaxy A02 which went official in Thailand today. The device has a MediaTek6739W CPU in tow. This CPU is quite old right now and has only four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at up to 1.5GHz. The device will probably come accompanied by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of Storage. In the camera department, it will have a dual-camera setup with a 13MP rear camera and a less useful 2MP macro unit. The notch probably serves as a house for a 5MP selfie snapper. The device probably has an old micro USB port that can only charge the battery at a 7.5W rate. At this rate, the phone will take several hours to charge.
The Galaxy M02 alleged specifications are certainly not for everyone. However, at its price point, the device may be useful for non-demanding people that just want a device to check social media and chat. The 5,000mAh battery also ensures a long time of video playback, so it also may be good for YouTube and video streaming apps.
Samsung will unveil the handset next week, February 2 at 1 PM local time.
