Vivo has been a leading company when it comes to expanding the availability of 5G phones. The brand launched a multitude of 5G-enabled smartphones last year and the list will only grow in 2021. On March 6, the brand will continue its Vivo S series with a new phone dubbed Vivo S9. The device is quite important for the market since it will be the first MediaTek Dimensity 1100-powered smartphone. The handset will go official on March 6. It already passed by Google Play Console listing. Now, leaksters @Digital Chat Station and @Arsenal revealed detailed specifications of the mid-range phone.
Vivo S9 another Vivo V20 Pro-based smartphone
According to the leaked info, this is another Vivo V20 Pro clone when we talk about design. The handset has a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a wide notch cutout for dual-selfie cameras. Just like on the V20 Pro, the handset has a 44MP main sensor upfront that is the Samsung’s GH1 unit. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide snapper. The back also is similar to that of the Vivo V20 Pro, that coincidence or not also is identical to that of the Vivo S7 5G. The original phone has a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide shooter, and a 2MP depth sensor. We’re not saying that the Vivo S9 will bear identical specifications, but considering previous iterations of this “design” we believe that this will be the case. Vivo seems to be very confident of this design and package of specs and is just changing the chipset inside of newer models.
Gizchina News of the week
The phone will feature a flat aluminum frame and a body coming at just 7.31mm thickness. It is speculated to launch as the lightest 5G smartphone at 168 grams. Thankfully, we still get the 4,000mAh battery with 33W fast-charging. Guess what? This also is a feature available in the S7 5G and Vivo V20 Pro. The phone will come in two variants with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of Internal Storage and another one with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of Internal Storage.
As we’ve talked about multiple times through this article, the biggest difference here is the Dimensity 1100 chipset. This is the entry option in MediaTek’s 2021 flagship lineup. However, the chipset performance still is comparable to that of the Snapdragon 865. The great advantage is that the phone will not be costlier than a Snapdragon flagship.
