If there is something wrong with Apple, is a usual delay in bringing new technologies to its smartphones. We can mention, for instance, the iPhones’ display design. The company is sticking with the same wide-notch solution since 2017. The wide-notches never were the users’ favorite cutouts, and for that reason, companies switched quickly to waterdrop notches, and more recently punch-hole cutouts. Although Apple sticks with this design, it has a reason for it – the wide notch houses the fancy Face ID system. The biggest upgrade made by the company recently, in the display department, was the change for OLED. Last year, we heard multiple rumors suggesting a 120Hz display on the iPhone 12 Pro, but that wasn’t true in the end. Now, Ming-Chi Kuo, a reputed Apple analyst, says that important changes are coming with the iPhone 13 series. If you’re tired of the iPhone X-esque design, then, the iPhone 13 family probably will be more attractive.
The iPhone 13 series will sport smaller notches, ultrawide cameras, and bigger batteries
According to Kuo, the iPhone 13 series will premier this Fall. There will be four models again with the same-sized screens as the current lineup. Even the controversial Mini variant will be kept. All four devices will have a smaller notch and a Lightning port. Kuo, however, confirms the rumors able Apple’s intention of making a portless iPhone with a MagSafe connector. However, the technology will not cut the iPhone 13 series. He states that the first portless iPhones may appear in 2022, or 2023 if everything goes wrong.
Gizchina News of the week
The iPhone 13 models will have a new ultra-wide camera with an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus. The iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max will have LiDAR scanners and 120Hz LTPO displays. For the first time, Apple will jump in the high refresh screen bandwagon. Once again, these devices will be full 5G phones thanks to Qualcomm’s 5nm X60M 5G modem.
Another good upgrade is in the battery backup. While last year’s iPhone received a downgrade in its capacities, the iPhone 13 series will bring a major improvement. According to the report, Apple has a space-saving innovative solution that consists in embedding the SIM slot into the mainboard. However, the bigger batteries will also make the devices heavier. Honestly, I can’t see anyone complaining about this.
The analyst also brings details about the iPhone Fold, Touch ID, and Periscope Zoom
According to the analyst, Apple’s first foldable iPhone will have a screen between 7.5-inch and 8-inch. It will only reach the market in 2023. The brand will scrap the Face ID notch for a punch-hole selfie camera in 2022. Moreover, an iPhone with an under-display Touch ID and a periscope camera could arrive in 2023.
Apart from the folding display that right now truly challenging for any OEM except Samsung, we can say that it’s very unfortunate to see that the under-display scanner and the periscope camera will not be ready for this year’s iPhone. Once again, iPhone users will not be able to get the best of current technology packed in a smartphone. This, however, will no affect iPhone sales.
