OnePlus revealed that its new entries for the flagship segment will come on March 23. The brand will officially introduce the OnePlus 9 series which may be composed of three devices – OnePlus 9, 9 Pro, and 9R. The company held an online conference on March 8 to unveil the launch date and announce a new partnership with Hasselblad in the development of its cameras. Now, the company is teasing the camera capabilities of its upcoming handsets. The primary cameras in the OnePlus 9 series will be based on Sony’s IMX789 sensor. Today, the company confirmed that the ultrawide camera on the OnePlus 9 will use an IMX766 sensor with a 50MP resolution.

The ultrawide camera will have a 50MP resolution, and according to OnePlus, the unit will come with a freeform lens. It will reduce distortion from 20 percent to about 1 percent. Interestingly, OnePlus CEO Mr. Pete Lau went ahead with the confirmation and shared a couple of photo samples on Twitter. One is captured with a conventional camera and has some distortion. The other phone is taken with the IMX766 inside the OnePlus 9 smartphone and we can see that it has minimal distortion. Worth noting that this camera can be exclusive of the 9 Pro. After all, we expect the high-tier variant to pack the most advanced camera setup. The OnePlus 9 will not fall much behind but certainly will cut some corners here and there. As far as the alleged OnePlus 9R is concerned, we expect it to be the simpler of the trio.
ONEPLUS 9 PRO SPECIFICATIONS (EXPECTED)
According to various leaks and reports, the OnePlus 9 Pro features a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone will have the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. It will have 12GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. In Optics as written above there might be a quad-camera setup with 50MP+50MP+8MP+2MP.
ONEPLUS 9 SPECIFICATIONS (RUMORED)
It will feature a 6.55-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone will boast a Snapdragon 888 SoC. It will have a 4500 mAh battery with 65W fast charging support.
ONEPLUS 9R SPECIFICATIONS (RUMORED)
Some leaks suggest this time around OnePlus will launch a mid-range smartphone also alongside the OnePlus 9 series. Its name might be OnePlus 9R or 9E. The smartphone will pack Snapdragon 690 SoC. It might have a 5000 mAh battery with 30W fast charging support.
